At Get Simple Box, we believe that giving back to the community is a vital part of who we are. This Christmas, we are honored to support those who have given so much for our country — local veterans and Gold Star families. Through donations, care packages, and partnerships, we’re excited to make a real difference in the lives of these incredible people.
Supporting Local Veterans with the Ellensburg VFW
In Ellensburg, there are over 70 veterans who rely on the support and services provided by the local VFW. Many of these veterans need help with basic transportation to get to medical appointments, grocery stores, and other essential services.
To help meet this need, we’re donating $10 from every delivery of a Container Rental or Container Purchase in December to Ellensburg VFW’s Transportation Fund. Our goal is to contribute over $1,000 to this fund, ensuring that veterans can access the care and services they need.
Ron Nass, Commander of the Ellensburg VFW, shared how critical this fund is for local veterans, many of whom struggle with day-to-day transportation.
Ross Black, owner of Get Simple Box, said:
“When we heard about the need for transportation, it struck a chord with us. Since a large part of our business involves transportation and delivering storage containers, it just made perfect sense to connect what we do with this important need.”
Boxes of Love for Local Veterans
In addition to financial support, our team is putting together “Boxes of Love” for veterans in our community. These care packages are filled with thoughtful items like:
- Warm socks and gloves
- Snacks and treats
- Toiletries (lotion, soap, lip balm)
- Hot chocolate, tea, or coffee
- A handwritten note of encouragement
These small gestures are a way to show veterans that they are remembered, appreciated, and cared for this holiday season.
Partnering with Believe With Me to Support Gold Star Families
We are also proud to partner with Believe With Me, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Gold Star families — those who have lost a parent in service to our country.
A Gold Star Family is a family that has made the ultimate sacrifice — they have lost a loved one who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The term “Gold Star” dates back to World War I, when families would display a flag with a blue star to represent a loved one serving in the military. If that loved one died in service, the blue star was replaced with a gold star to honor their sacrifice.
Believe With Me works tirelessly to support these families, not just during the holidays, but throughout the year. They provide Christmas gifts to the children left behind, organize events, offer emotional support, and help surviving spouses with education and employment resources. As Lyette Reback, founder of Believe With Me, explains:
This Christmas, we’re donating $1,000 to help Believe With Me provide gifts for over 2,000 children who are missing a parent at the holidays. As Lyette Reback, founder of Believe With Me, shared:
“A big part of what we do is reminding these loved ones that they are not forgotten. We also provide encouragement for the spouse who has been left behind.”
During a recent tour of the Believe With Me warehouse, Ross Black expressed:
“If I died serving my country, I would hope that someone would care for my wife and kids like you’re caring for these families. It’s a beautiful thing.”
How You Can Get Involved
As a storage franchise that cares deeply about the community, we’re inviting you to join us in these efforts. There are several ways to join us in supporting veterans and Gold Star families:
- Book a Storage Container Delivery — Every order in December helps us give back.
- Reach Out — Contact us if you’d like to contribute or learn more.
- Support Believe With Me — Consider donating or hosting a toy drive or LemonAID Stand to support Gold Star families.
Together, small efforts can make a big impact. We are grateful to our customers, team members, and community partners who help us spread kindness this Christmas.
Thank you for helping us give back!
