Small Business Administration Program Encourages Growth of Burlington Mobile Storage Business

Simple Box Storage co-owner Ross Black receives an award upon completion of the 7-month MBA program

Get Simple Box owner and founder Ross Black, recently completed a seven-month leadership program hosted by the Seattle chapter of the Small Business Administration

The Streetwise MBA program trains CEOs whose businesses are ready for growth to lead their company through the next steps in a healthy way. Out of the many applicants for the program, Black was selected as one of 16 participants and one of 10 graduates of the program.

When asked to sum up the program, Black says, “It helped me realize that what got me here, probably won’t get me there… I realized that our Storage business has the potential to be a truly great company, but I need to have the wisdom to recognize how my old way of doing things might not be the best way, and have the humility to make changes – starting with myself.”

Participants in the program focused on five key areas essential to business health:

  1. Leadership
  2. Financial Stewardship
  3. Marketing and Promotion
  4. Resource Development
  5. Growth Goals and Plans

Throughout the program, students also met in CEO mentoring groups designed to help bring clarity and focus to each student’s 3-year strategic growth plan.

“I’m so thankful for the time and knowledge SBA instructors invested into me,” Black says, “now it’s time to put that wisdom to work!”
